Moscow – Saba:
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today, Tuesday, that the tasks outlined in the exercises of the Russian strategic nuclear deterrent forces have been fully completed, confirming that all launched missiles reached their targets.
The "Russia Today" website quoted the ministry in a statement today, Tuesday, saying: "The tasks specified during the exercises of the strategic deterrent forces have been fully accomplished, and all missiles reached their targets."
The statement added that during the exercises, an intercontinental ballistic missile "Yars" was launched from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, and "Sineva" and "Bulava" ballistic missiles were launched from the Barents and Okhotsk Seas.
It noted that the strategic "Tu-95 MS" aircraft, carrying long-range air-launched cruise missiles, participated in the exercises and launched cruise missiles.
It is noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin oversaw the strategic nuclear deterrent forces' exercises from the operations center in the Kremlin on Tuesday.
The Russian president pointed out that the use of nuclear weapons is the "last resort" to ensure the country's security, emphasizing that Russia "does not intend to get drawn into a new arms race, but will maintain its nuclear forces at a level of necessary sufficiency."
At the same time, Putin affirmed that the "nuclear triad is still a reliable guarantor of Russia's sovereignty and security, which makes it possible to address strategic deterrence issues, as well as to maintain nuclear parity and balance of power in the region and the world."
He stressed that the increasing tensions in the world and the emergence of new external threats highlight the importance of having modern strategic deterrent forces that are ready for combat use at all times. Therefore, Moscow will continue to enhance all its capabilities, as the country has the necessary resources for that.
