The Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday confirmed that Ukraine's use of long-range missiles to strike deep inside Russian territory will radically change the essence of the conflict.
The official spokeswoman for the ministry, Maria Zakharova, said in statements today, Monday, that "Kiev's use of long-range missiles to attack our territories will mean the direct participation of the United States of America and its followers in hostilities against Russia, as well as a radical change in the essence and nature of the conflict, and in this case Russia's response will be appropriate and tangible."
She added, "It is not yet known whether this information is based on official sources, but one thing is clear: against the backdrop of the defeats of the Kiev regime, its Western sponsors are betting on the maximum escalation of the hybrid war waged against Russia in an attempt to achieve an illusory goal of inflicting a strategic defeat on Moscow."
The official spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed at the end of her statements that no Western weapon will be able to influence the course of the special military operation.
Zakharova's comments come amid reports that the United States has approved and allowed Ukraine to use long-range ATACMS missiles to strike targets in Russian territory.
