Spain prevents cargo ship bound for Zionist entity from docking in its ports

Madrid - Saba:
The Spanish government confirmed in press statements on Wednesday that it will not allow the Maersk Denver and another ship to dock in Spanish ports.

The Danish company Maersk, one of the largest shipping companies in the world, announced that its container ship was prevented from entering the Spanish port of Algeciras. The company claimed that the cargo did not contain weapons or military ammunition.

The company said in an official statement: “The goods to be transported through the port do not contain weapons or military ammunition,” the company said in an official statement. Noting that this measure represents a change in Spanish standards.

This decision comes in the context of the Spanish government's hard-line approach to dealing with weapons destined for the Zionist entity, in light of the escalating European criticism of the Zionist war on the Gaza Strip.

The decision is part of a series of measures taken by the Spanish government since the recognition of the State of Palestine last May, along with countries such as Ireland and Norway, where Spain has halted arms sales to Israel and prevented ships carrying military cargo from docking in its ports.

Last week, MP Enrique Santiago, a member of the Spanish leftist coalition SOMAR and secretary general of the Spanish Communist Party, filed a formal complaint to block the entry of the ship and another ship scheduled to arrive later this month, saying via the X platform: “The Algeciras port cannot be a transit zone for weapons destined for Israel.”

The statement put the spotlight back on Spain's growing policy of tightening control over its ports to prevent any possible use in support of the Zionist aggression on Gaza.

According to Maersk, the cargo was not physically inspected and the ship's crew was forced to divert to the port of Tangier in Morocco.

Maersk expressed its surprise at the decision, stating that it had contacted the Spanish authorities to understand the reasons for denying entry to the ship: “We understand that Spain has changed its criteria on a discretionary basis, and now refuses to receive ships to or from Israel if they are carrying any military-related cargo, even if the cargo is legal.”

The Zionist enemy army, backed by the United States and Europe, continues its aggression against the Gaza Strip for the second year in a row, with its aircraft bombing the vicinity of hospitals, buildings, towers and homes of Palestinian civilians, destroying them over the heads of their inhabitants, and preventing the entry of water, food, medicine and fuel.

The ongoing Zionist-US aggression on Gaza has killed more than 43,000 people, injured more than 103,000 others, and displaced 90 percent of the Gaza Strip's population, according to the United Nations.
