SANA'A February 01. 2023 (Saba) -His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, Head of the Supreme Political Council, met today, Wednesday, with the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Ahmed Al-Mutawakel, and members of the Judicial Council.
During the meeting, they discussed the legal amendments to achieve an urgent and fair judiciary, and the criteria for the new batch at the Higher Judicial Institute.
President Al-Mashat stressed the need for the next batch at the Higher Institute for the Judiciary to be distinguished in terms of spirituality, faith, patriotism, and scientific and cognitive talent.
He directed the head of the Judicial Council and the Attorney General to visit prisons and release insolvent prisoners, provided that the General Authority for Zakat pays their rights to others.
He also directed the release of prisoners pending execution of custodial sentences who have spent two-thirds of their time in cases other than serious cases and special rights.
President Al-Mashat urged to pay attention to the continuous training and qualification of the administrative and judicial staff, and to pay attention to developing the curriculum of the Higher Judicial Institute, in a way that enables the judge to perform his responsibility in accordance with the glorious Islamic Sharia.
He urged the Supreme Judicial Council to investigate the appointment of judges, and to choose an honest judge keen to achieve justice.
President Al-Mashat stressed the need to urge judges and clerks to quickly decide citizens' cases, achieve prompt justice, and take deterrent measures against all those who fail to perform their duties, including judges and administrators.
