President Al-Mashat meets Ministry of Guidance, Hajj Umrah Affairs leadership
[30/ May/2023]

SANA'A May 30. 2023 (Saba) -His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, Head of the Supreme Political Council, met today, Tuesday, at the Republican Palace in the capital, Sana'a, Minister of Guidance, Hajj and Umrah Affairs Najeeb Nasser Al-Aji, and his deputy, scholar Fouad Muhammad Naji.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Guidance for the Hajj and Umrah Sector, Abdul Rahman Al-Naami, the difficulties facing the Yemeni pilgrims were discussed in light of the continued closure of the ports and the US-Saudi blockade on the Yemeni people.

As well as closing Sana'a International Airport and raising the cost of Hajj by more than three times, as well as arbitrary dealings of mercenaries with Yemeni pilgrims, renting accommodation far from the Haram and gathering them in one place, which increases their suffering and exposes them to dangers.

In the meeting, President Al-Mashat affirmed that the Saudi regime deliberately politicizes the Hajj and restricts it to a very limited number of people from one country, thus bypassing a prominent feature of the Hajj as a collective duty for Muslims from all over the world and a clear violation of God's directives.

He pointed out the need to distance the Hajj from politicization, manipulation of the quotas of Yemeni pilgrims, and to close the electronic route for the transportation of pilgrims from the capital, Sana'a.

He indicated that most of the pilgrims depart from the areas of the Supreme Political Council's authority, in which a high population density resides.

The President pointed out that the Yemeni pilgrims suffer from cuts, killings and theft of their property while passing through the mercenaries' areas, as happened when the bus transporting pilgrims in Abyan province was interrupted last year, and their money and belongings were looted.
