16 Civilians killed &injured by aggression remnants over 10 days in number of provinces

SANA'A August 11. 2023 (Saba)- The Yemen Executive Mine Action Centre (YEMAC) revealed on Friday that 16 civilians were killed and injured; As a result of the aggression remnants, during the first 10 days of August, in a number of provinces.

In a statement issued by the Yemen News Agency (SABA), the Centre indicated that nine citizens were killed and seven others, including five children, were injured by the explosion of aggression remnants in Sa'ada, Sana'a, Bayda, Jawf and Hodeida provinces during the first 10 days of August 2023.

The statement confirmed that the Centre records daily casualties; because of the remnants of aggression of mines and cluster bombs.

The United Nations continues to halt the Centre's work completely from April to the present day, although mine action accounts for 50% of the 2023 humanitarian response plan. Pointed out that funding for mine action is available from the Humanitarian Financing Fund.

The statement appealed to the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, David Gressly, and the OCHA Office to intervene swiftly to reconsider the decision to cease mine and cluster bomb action, which resulted in large numbers of victims on a daily basis.

In his statement, the Executive Centre called for urgent and humanitarian solutions to protect citizens of men, women and children and secure the return of displaced persons; This is a right of Yemeni societies.
