Capitals-Saba:
Spain, Norway, Ireland, Ireland and Slovenia condemned the Zionist Knesset's vote on a law banning the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT).
‘UNRWA has a mandate from the United Nations General Assembly,’ the four European countries said in a joint statement last night, adding that ’the agency's work is essential and indispensable for millions of Palestinian refugees in the region, especially in the current context in Gaza.’
She continued: ‘The legislation passed by the Knesset sets a very dangerous precedent for the work of the UN and all organisations of the multilateral system.’
The four countries emphasised that they will continue to work with donor and host countries to ensure the continuity of UNRWA's work and its humanitarian role.
