The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced that 1,261 students have been martyred and 19,467 injured since the start of the Zionist aggression war on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on 7 October 2023.
The ministry said in a statement on Tuesday: The number of students martyred in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the genocidal war reached more than 11,946, and those injured 18,858, while in the West Bank 115 students were martyred and 609 others were injured, in addition to the arrest of 466.
She pointed out that 564 teachers and administrators were martyred and 3,729 were injured in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and more than 153 were arrested in the West Bank.
She explained that 441 public schools, universities and their buildings and 65 UNRWA buildings were bombed and sabotaged in the Gaza Strip, 126 schools were bombed and sabotaged, 77 were completely destroyed, and 91 schools and seven universities in the West Bank were stormed and sabotaged.
The ministry emphasised that 788,000 students in the Gaza Strip are still prevented from attending their schools and universities since the start of the aggression, while most of the students suffer psychological trauma and face difficult health conditions.
It pointed out that the Zionist enemy's repeated incursions into Jenin and Tulkarem governorates have terrorised students in their schools.
