Sana'a - Saba:

The General Secretariat of the Yemeni Writers and Authors Union mourned the passing of writer and short story writer Maha Salah, who passed away in Sana'a on Monday due to a health issue.

In a statement, the General Secretariat extended its heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased and to the broader Yemeni cultural community for the untimely loss of a writer whose experience in short story writing and children's literature marked a significant and unique contribution to contemporary Yemeni literature.

The statement emphasized that Maha Salah’s literary journey offered works of exceptional quality, both in the short story genre—where she emerged as one of the most prominent female voices—and in her work in children's literature, whether through her impactful publications or her contributions to Ebhar Foundation for Childhood.

The Union’s statement highlighted the transparent and harmonious relationships Maha Salah had with her peers in the cultural scene. She embodied a unique model of human interaction, rooted in her good character and inner beauty, qualities that foster creativity—a rarity that not all achieve.

The General Secretariat also underscored the distinctiveness of the late writer’s literary experience and called for her work to receive the critical attention it deserves, ensuring she is granted the recognition and creative rights she is due.
