Gaza - Saba:
Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza Strip, including children, women and the elderly, have been left without enough clothes to protect them from the bitter cold as winter sets in, with the vast majority of them staying in tents, the Euro-Mediterranean Observatory for Human Rights said.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Euro-Mediterranean Observatory pointed out that the Zionist enemy has for more than a year prevented the entry of blankets, clothes and shoes into Gaza Strip, including the needs of children, in light of the entry of a bitter cold season and catastrophic humanitarian conditions.
It added that the Zionist enemy also prevents other essentials to protect against the winter cold, such as blankets, heating sources , sufficient quantities of tents and tarpaulins.
The Gaza government media office reported on Monday that nearly 10,000 tents were washed away by sea water and damaged during the past two days, as a result of the extension of the waves with the winter season entry and the atmospheric depression.
The media office explained that 81% of the tents of displaced people in Gaza Strip have become unusable, as 110,000 of the 135,000 tents are in need of immediate and urgent replacement, as they are completely worn out.
It reiterated an urgent humanitarian distress call to the international community, world countries , international and UN organizations to save hundreds of thousands of displaced people in Gaza Strip before it is too late.
