[27/ November/2024]
Sana'a - Saba:

The Parliament on Wednesday extended its congratulations to Leader of the Revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat, the members of the Council, the brave men of the armed forces and security, and the free people of Yemen on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of Independence Day, celebrated on November 30th.

In today's session, chaired by Speaker Yahya al-Ra'i, the Parliament highlighted the significance of this historic day, noting that it represents a pivotal moment in Yemen’s struggle for independence. The day marks the culmination of the October 14 Revolution and the triumph of the Yemeni people's resistance to foreign occupation and colonialism, ushering in a new era of freedom, ambition, and national unity.

The Parliament underscored that the withdrawal of British forces from Yemen was a clear sign that external powers could not continue their hegemonic control. It reaffirmed the resilience of Yemen’s armed forces, which continue to safeguard the country’s sovereignty by confronting foreign aggression and imperialist designs, particularly from the U.S. and its allies.

The session also included discussions on various government reports, including updates on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' implementation of the Council’s recommendations and the Ministry of Civil Service and Administrative Development’s progress in the same area. Additionally, the Council addressed ongoing development projects in rural water systems and the establishment of the Hodeida Governorate Support and Development Fund.

In response to a query by Council member Dr. Ali al-Zanam, the Ministry of Finance was called upon to provide answers regarding its failure to continue supporting self-initiative projects and its plans for future coordination and implementation. The Ministry of Finance will be required to attend a future session to address the matter.
