A training workshop for extension specialists in the branches of the agriculture sector, agricultural associations and development knights in the districts of Dhamar province on extension programs and field schools began on Wednesday.
The six-day workshop, organized by the Agriculture Sector and funded by the Executive Unit of the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Management in the province in coordination with the Agricultural Extension and Information Sector, will be attended by 60 participants from the extension programs, with five participants from each directorate.
Dr. Omar stressed the importance of working in a team spirit to accomplish tasks aimed at advancing the agricultural sector, activating the functions of agricultural associations in the directorates and establishing new associations in directorates where no associations were previously formed.
He stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve the success of the program to expand the production of wheat, corn and legumes, because of the importance of this project in supporting efforts to achieve self-sufficiency and reach food security.
The Director of the Extension Department, Engineer Fuad Al-Kouri, pointed out that the participants will learn about the skills of producing field vegetable crops, methods of growing fruits such as peaches and mangoes, coffee trees, post-harvest treatments, methods of caring for livestock, beekeeping and honey production, how to implement field demonstrations , field training for farmers, the selection and implementation of field schools.
