The Yemeni Cooperative Association for Marketing Fish and Marine Life (YCA) was launched in Sana'a on Wednesday, in a ceremony organized by the Ministries of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and Social Affairs and Labor in cooperation with the Fish Cooperative Union.
At the launch ceremony, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Dr. Radwan Al-Rabaei stressed the importance of establishing the fish association in response to the directives of the Revolution Leader Sayyed Abdulmalik Badreddin Al-Houthi, who paid great attention to cooperative, and participatory work for its role in achieving sustainable development.
He pointed out the importance of combining everyone's efforts to promote the fish sector, especially in light of the aggression's systematic targeting of this important economic sector. He stressed that increasing fish marketing performance will contribute to improving the standard of living of fishermen.
Abdulhamid Salah, head of the steering committee of the Fish Cooperative Union, pointed out the importance of establishing the association to promote cooperative work between fishermen , suppliers, and to develop fish marketing mechanisms.
He praised the efforts of the preparatory committee and all those who contributed to the success of this cooperative work, which represents an entity for sellers and marketers of fish products and aquatic life.
At the ceremony, which was attended by representatives of the Social Affairs and Labor Ministry, speeches were delivered by the President of the Yemeni Cooperative Society for Marketing Fish and Marine Life, Tawfiq Dehqam, and the Secretary of the Society, Abdullah Al-Mahfadi, who stressed the importance of establishing the Society, which will work according to the vision of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Ministry in contract fishing, which will help fish products reach high quality and appropriate price.
Representatives of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor expressed their support for the association as a model of cooperative work that will contribute to empowering fishermen and improving their economic and social conditions.
At the ceremony, the association announced the opening of membership registration for the year 1446 AH - 2024 AD, calling on all members of the fish marketing sector, whether individuals or companies, to join and participate in the development and support of the vital sector.
