The Sixth Yemeni International Conference on Neurosurgery and Spine, which concluded in Sana'a on November 29, 2024, was hailed as a significant achievement in the field of medical science amidst the country's challenging circumstances.

The conference, organized by the Yemeni Society of Neurosurgeons and Spine, brought together more than 65 local surgeons and 25 international experts who participated in 12 working sessions and presented 50 scientific papers.

These sessions covered a wide range of topics, including brain and nerve tumor surgery, neurovascular deformities, spine and peripheral nerve surgeries, pain treatment, and trauma care for brain and spine injuries.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Ali Shaiban, Minister of Health and Environment, praised the success of the event, emphasizing the crucial role of the conference in restoring confidence in Yemeni medical professionals.

He highlighted that despite the hardships caused by the ongoing conflict and siege, Yemeni doctors have proven their capability to perform complex surgeries, establishing themselves as highly skilled medical professionals.

Dr. Mujahid Moasar, chairman of the conference and head of the medical council, expressed gratitude to the organizing committees and participants, noting the extensive six-month preparation process that made the event a success. He also acknowledged the essential role played by the Yemeni Society of Neurosurgery in facilitating the event and the contributions of supporting companies and hospitals.

In recognition of their contributions, the Minister of Health, Dr. Shaiban, along with Dr. Mesar and Dr. Majid Amer, head of the Yemeni Society of Neurosurgery, were honored with shields, along with members of the scientific and preparatory committees and supporting organizations.
