Tokyo - Saba:
Japan's ruling alliance on Sunday received the heaviest defeat in general elections, and lost majority in the Parliament, media reported Monday, adding further ambiguity linked to the formation of the government and the future of the World's fourth largest economy.
The democrat party, led by the Japanese Prime Minister, and its minor partner in the coalition, Komito Party, won 209 out of 465 seats in the Parliament, NHK said, after all the seats were counted excepting 20.
The alliance previously had 279 seats, i.e. they lost 70 seats, in the worst result since 2009.
