The leadership of the Lebanese Hezbollah announced on Tuesday that the Shura Council agreed to elect Sheikh Naim Qassem as Secretary General, succeeding the martyr leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
The leadership said in a statement: This comes ‘based on adherence to Hezbollah's principles and objectives, and in accordance with the mechanism adopted to elect the Secretary-General’. It called for ‘his success in this great task in leading Hezbollah and its Islamic resistance.’
The leadership concluded its statement by saying: ‘We pledge to God Almighty and to the spirit of our highest and most precious martyr, His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the martyrs, the mujahideen of the Islamic Resistance, and our steadfast, patient and loyal people to work together to achieve the principles of Hezbollah and the goals of its march, and to keep the flame of the resistance bright and its banner raised until victory is achieved.’
