New York-Saba:
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has warned that a ban by the Zionist entity ‘Israel’ on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) would have devastating consequences for Palestinian refugees.
The UN Secretary-General said on the ‘X’ platform: ‘The laws passed by the Israeli Knesset, if implemented, will likely prevent UNRWA from continuing its essential work in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, which will have devastating consequences for Palestinian refugees and is unacceptable.
‘I call on Israel to act in line with its obligations under the UN Charter and international law, and national legislation cannot alter these obligations.’
He continued: ‘I will bring this matter to the UN General Assembly, and I will keep the Assembly informed.’
Yesterday, the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee of the Zionist Knesset approved a draft law against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which cancels a 1967 agreement on the UN agency's activities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The bill prohibits Zionist government representatives from making any contact with UNRWA, which means preventing the Zionist Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior from issuing entry visas to UNRWA employees.
These moves come amid Zionist allegations that UNRWA has close ties with Hamas - allegations that the agency vehemently rejects.
