Tehran - Saba:
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on the Security Council to take a firm stance against the Zionist entity's crimes in the region, urging the imposition of strict sanctions under Chapter VII of the UN Charter.
During a meeting with ambassadors and representatives of foreign countries in Tehran, Araghchi emphasized the need for collective diplomatic efforts to halt Israeli attacks and address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Lebanon. He called on the international community to take urgent action to stop the violence and provide relief aid to affected areas.
Araghchi highlighted the responsibility of all United Nations member states, especially those signatory to the Convention on the Prevention of Genocide and the Four Geneva Conventions, to act collectively against serious violations of international law and human rights. He warned that the region would not achieve peace unless Israeli attacks ceased.
Discussing the situation in Lebanon, Araghchi reaffirmed that Hezbollah and the resistance are integral to the Lebanese people and cannot be eradicated. He stressed the importance of recognizing the rights of the Lebanese and Palestinian people in any peace plans.
Araghchi also pointed out that the continued genocide in Gaza, Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Syria, and repeated military actions threaten international peace and security.
He reiterated the Security Council's responsibility to impose strict sanctions on the Zionist entity and criticized the US support for Israel in the Security Council as a major obstacle to addressing Israel's violations.
The Iranian foreign minister called for a global response to curb the Zionist entity's aggressive actions and promote regional stability and security.
