The German Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that it had summoned the Russian ambassador to Berlin, following Moscow's announcement of the decision to expel two German journalists.
The German Foreign Minister said, Commenting on the decision to summon the Russian ambassador, Annalena Baerbock said that "the expulsion of the employees of the television channel "ARD" by Russia is unacceptable," questioning the credibility of the justifications that preceded the expulsion, and expressing her condemnation of this act.
According to German press sources, the Russian authorities have obliged two employees of the channel, a reporter and a technician, to re-accredit them and leave Russia by December 16.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said the move was in response to German authorities expelling reporters from Russian state television, which Berlin denied.
