Kirkuk - Saba:
Iraqi security source confirmed on Sunday the launch of a security operation in Hamrin Kirkuk from two axes.
The source told Iraqi news agency Al-Malouma:"Late last night, Iraqi warplanes targeted an important target for ISIS cells in the eastern part of the Hamrin hills in Kirkuk, close to the administrative border with Salahuddin, targeting the terrorist Abu Basim, who runs one of the organisation's most important cells, along with three of his aides".
‘The strike was direct, amid expectations that the cell was annihilated,’ he said. ‘Since the early hours of dawn, a joint force has been combing the site from two axes to count the bodies of the dead and determine the results of the operation,’ he said.
‘The strike in Hamreen Kirkuk is the seventh in 2024, which comes as part of important operations to eliminate the remaining ISIS terrorist cells through intelligence efforts and co-ordination with the air force in directing strikes,’ he said.
‘The intelligence effort has achieved significant results in monitoring and tracking ISIS cells in recent months by uncovering the group's most important rest-houses and sleeper cells,’ he said.
