Gaza-Saba:
The Palestinian Journalists Protection Center (PJPC) on Tuesday called for an immediate end to the systematic and continuous Zionist targeting and killing of media workers in Gaza, stressing the need to take immediate and firm measures to hold the occupation accountable.
In a statement, PJPC condemned the targeting of the enemy, the martyr journalist Ahmed Abu Sharia in Gaza City, pointing out that it is the latest crime against journalists to withhold media coverage of Zionist crimes in the Gaza Strip.
PJPC urged world leaders, human rights and judicial organizations, and the international community to take immediate and resolute action to hold enemy forces accountable for their crimes and end impunity for the killers of journalists.
He called for the need to take effective and immediate legal steps to protect Palestinian journalists, ensuring that they continue to carry out their mission without fear, intimidation, or targeting their lives and safety.
PJPC stressed that pressure should be placed on the Zionist entity to allow media institutions to operate freely on the ground, and to ensure that all journalists are able to cover what is happening in the Gaza Strip and the entire occupied Palestinian territory.
On Tuesday morning, photojournalist Ahmed Abu Sharia was killed in Zionist artillery shelling targeting the Al-Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City.
With the martyrdom of journalist Abu Sharia, the number of Palestinian journalist martyrs rises to 189, in addition to the injury of 396 other journalists, while the Zionist enemy arrested 40 journalists whose names were known since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, according to the latest data issued by the Government Media Office in Gaza.
