Sana'a-Saba:
The House of Representatives, in its session today, under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Council, Brother Yahya Ali Al-Raei, approved the report of the Transport and Communications Committee on the level of performance and achievement of the General Authority for Maritime Affairs for the years 2021-2024.
The approval of the report comes after the commitment of the government side, represented by Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works Yahya Al-Sayani, in the presence of the Acting Chairman of the General Authority for Maritime Affairs, Zaid Al-Washli, and several specialists in the relevant authorities to implement the following recommendations:
1- The government, represented by the Ministry of Finance, shall provide the necessary financial support for the repair, maintenance, and rehabilitation of the maritime communications system in the Authority's branch in Hodeidah Governorate to enable the Authority to carry out its tasks in monitoring and securing the safety of maritime traffic.
2. Activating the decision of the Minister of Transport No. (65) of 2010 regarding the subordination of lighthouses and navigational aids that serve international navigation passing by, and paying the authority's share of the lighting fees that are paid to the Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation, which is set at 40% of those fees.
3- Providing the necessary financial support for the implementation of the authority's projects described in the table attached to this report and for ten projects in the amount of (196,550,000) riyals, as the authority does not have any resources due to the blockade and aggression imposed on our country.
In a related context, the Council approved the report of the Transport and Communications Committee on the level of performance and achievement of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority during the years 2021-2023.
This came after the commitment of the government side, represented by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works, to implement the following recommendations:
1- The government, represented by the Ministry of Administration and Local and Rural Development, the Capital Municipality, the General Authority for Land and State Real Estate and the Ministry of Transport and Works, shall work on:
A- Providing parking lots for the passenger transport sorting complex between governorates.
Provide suitable land for the construction of an arrival and departure station for mass transport buses.
Provide stops for sorting buses and means of urban transport in the governorates, especially within the Capital Municipality.
2- The Ministry of Interior, represented by the security departments and the General Directorate of Traffic, shall arrest anyone who imposes and collects fees that are not based on the law on means of taxi transport, refer them to the Public Prosecution to complete the legal procedures against them, and resolve any problems related to prosecutions regarding the completion of procedures.
The Council began the session by reviewing and approving its previous minutes and will continue to hold its business sessions tomorrow, Tuesday, God willing.
