Sana'a - Sabs: The General Authority for Small and Micro Enterprise Development has adopted new paths to be added to the list of paths it has implemented to contribute to economic development, based on its vision to build a society capable of employing its resources to achieve sustainable development that serves the national economy.

The new paths that the Authority is working on include activating community funds, microfinance, and white loans, especially after commercial banks refrained from providing loans after the decision to cancel usurious transactions, and also after the successes achieved by the Authority in the path of involving youth in economic empowerment projects.

Through these paths, the Authority seeks to create and build economic projects and entrepreneurs and support the access of local products to markets by developing and guiding young capabilities and providing them with all aspects of technical, professional and rehabilitation support and involving them in sustainable development projects.

The Chairman of the Small and Micro Enterprise Development Authority, Ahmed Al-Kabsi, confirmed to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the Authority is keen to expand its work paths to achieve the desired goals of its establishment.

He explained that the new tracks were selected based on accurate studies conducted on the reality of small and micro enterprises, their needs and the challenges they face, indicating that these tracks complement the Authority’s efforts in terms of providing a suitable environment for small and micro enterprises, and setting regulations and legislation related to them, in addition to awareness, training, qualification and providing consultations to owners and pioneers of small and micro enterprises.

Al-Kabsi referred to the path of involving youth in economic empowerment projects, indicating that in light of the increasing economic and social challenges, its importance has emerged as a strategic solution to ensure a sustainable development future, given that youth represent a large segment among the society's categories and have the ability to create positive impacts that drive the wheel of development and prosperity.

He stated that the Authority implemented during the past few days, within the framework of the path of involving youth in economic empowerment projects; A series of workshops and training courses targeting 115 graduates from the colleges of agriculture, science and society and graduates of the marketing department in the colleges of commerce, administrative sciences and humanities.

He pointed out the importance of the role of youth in shaping the future of the nation as they are an integral part of the present, which requires empowering them economically and arming them with the necessary skills to achieve their goals and ambitions. He pointed out that giving youth the opportunity to participate in decision-making and building projects enhances their self-confidence and increases their engagement in society.

The Chairman of the Project Development Authority considered the economic empowerment paths and projects as effective tools in promoting and developing small and micro enterprises, which have noticeable effects in many aspects, the most important of which is developing the skills necessary for young people to start and manage their own projects, qualifying them, providing them with advisory support, training them on how to manage work, enhancing their competitive capabilities, and expanding the scope of commercial activities.

He stated that the economic empowerment paths contribute to creating a suitable environment for innovation by providing opportunities and resources, enabling entrepreneurs to experiment with new ideas and provide distinctive services and products, which enables them to adapt to changes in the market.

He also stressed that the Authority was keen to help the economic empowerment paths in linking entrepreneurs with other people in similar or complementary fields, which contributes to building networks of relationships that increase opportunities for cooperation and partnership.

Al-Kabsi pointed out the importance of small and micro-enterprises as a primary driver of economic growth in local communities through their contribution to increasing productivity and the flow of money within the local economy, which enhances the stability of the economy in general.

He pointed out that enabling youth to engage in the path of economic empowerment projects will help address social issues such as unemployment and poverty, as this path provides the ability to improve the living conditions of youth and develop their communities.
