The Spanish government expressed its strong rejection of Zionist statements regarding the annexation of the occupied West Bank.
‘The imposition of sovereignty by force is contrary to international law, and the International Court of Justice has ruled that the decades-long Zionist occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal and must end as soon as possible,’ the Spanish Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
It added that the extremist statements are inflammatory and hinder the necessary de-escalation of regional tension, emphasising that settlements are completely contrary to international law.
In a speech delivered while chairing a meeting of the ‘Religious Zionism’ party in the Zionist Knesset on Monday, Smotrich vowed that 2025 would be the year of Zionist sovereignty over the West Bank.
